The New Haven Network for Public Education, Inc. (formerly the New Haven Public Education Fund) was created as an initiative of The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven in 1986 in response to concerns the New Haven community has expressed regarding public education.
In 1992, the initiative was established as a non-profit 501c3 agency with support from an endowment fund from The Community Foundation.
The Network became part of a growing number of Public Education and Local Education Funds throughout the nation. Today it is one of the senior members of the Public Education Network, the nation's largest network of independent, community-based school reform organizations.
The Network works to involve all segments of the New Haven community in improving our public schools, and in supporting high achievement for every student by:
Demanding high achievement in learning, teaching and child development-school by school, neighborhood by neighborhood. |
Holding ourselves, the community and our schools accountable for sustainable results. |
Listening to, and informing the community about critical issues and effective strategies in public education. |
Empowering parents to become more involved at every level of their children's education. |
Supporting teachers and administrators in achieving higher standards for themselves and their students. |
Leading multi-partner collaborations to champion system reform. |
